Business Situation
The customer: an international cosmetics firm with a long history in developing and manufacturing skin care products. The company was founded in the mid 1980's and in the late 1990's developed a specialty in skin care products for the indoor tanning industry. It also became an innovator in sunless tanning products, particularly spray tanning solutions for applications with airbrush or booth technology. The company, utilizing an mult-user MS Access application front end with a MySQL database, sought to resolve functional issues to the current application and migrate the existing application to a new platform. Specifically, the client sought the following:
- Resolve data query issues between the MS Access front end and the MySQL database
- Migrate the functional database from MySQL to MS Access
What We Did
Following an operational analysis of the current application and operational environment, Loricca:
- Repaired the query statements within the application and restored full functionality
- Migrated the existing MySQL database to an MS Access database
- Tested the functionality of both the original application and the migrated application
Results
The company is now able to operate the application with an MS Access database. Specific to the client's environment, this affords the company the ability to make their application more portable while at the same allows them to backup and do routine database maintenance activities more thoroughly and effectively.
